Depends really mate.
I'm on 20mbps and that never gives me any lag or ping issues and others have hosted just as well on 10 so around 7-8 should be good enough for a medium sized game hosting.

nice speed, i'm on 50mb trials at the mo, but they will be ending soon, so it's back to the old 20mb
