Xbox Live ExperienceLooks like XBL are going in for a major revampDear Xbox LIVE Member, When we launched Xbox 360 in November 2005, Xbox LIVE was integrated directly into the console. Back then, Xbox 360 was the first system to deliver access to experiences beyond just the disc in the tray. With the Xbox guide and dashboard you had access to everything on your console as well as your community. We also imagined that Xbox experience would continuously improve over time, through the power of software. Since launch, you’ve always pushed us to continuously innovate. It is because you spoke with one loud voice that we added new features like background downloading, 1080p support, movies and TV shows, video chat, a Marketplace blade and instant messaging. Over time, as we’ve delivered more and more content into the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, we’ve heard from many of you that it has become increasingly difficult to find the games and content you want. And that brings us to today. Because of your feedback, we started rethinking the entire Xbox experience. What we discovered was that we could not only provide a better experience for you, but also something that reaches out to new audiences. What John Schappert unveiled for the world on stage at E3 was just a sneak preview, so I wanted to share some deeper details on some of the new features in the new Xbox experience. Here is a look at some additional features you will find interesting: Play from hard drive. Copy your games from the game disc and play directly from the hard drive. Not only will the drive not spin, but load times are quicker, as well. Of course, you will still need the disc in the tray to prove you own the game. Access Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web. Browse and purchase Marketplace content whenever you want from Xbox.com and it downloads automatically to your console. Purchase that new map, television episode, the latest Xbox LIVE Arcade game or set up a movie to watch when you get home from work. Dashboard built into the new Xbox Guide. For everyone who loves the blades interface, it’s not going away; they are now built directly in to the new Xbox guide. Every feature and option is available right from the guide. You can even access your full games library at all times. No matter where you are (in dash or in game), immediately call up your games played list and directly launch a game. LIVE Party system. Create a party of up to eight friends, and stay with them from one game to another, or watch a Netflix movie together, or share a slideshow of your personal photos. It works with all Xbox 360 titles, not just upcoming games. LIVE Party allows up to eight people to chat in the dashboard, so you can meet up before playing. Xbox LIVE Primetime. This whole new category of games is going to give you more reasons to get online with your friends. Games will support everything you’d expect, like Achievements and leader boards, but many of these games will include real prizes. You can invite your friends, and even set a reminder for an upcoming show. Each game is broadcast simultaneously, so everyone is answering the same questions. Many events will have a live host, calling the shots as they happen. Avatars. Your online identity started as a Gamertag - it then grew into a personalized Gamercard. Now, it has evolved even further into avatars. You can express your style, check out new outfits and share this with the community. Avatars will also be integrated into Xbox LIVE Arcade games, LIVE Party, as well as retail games. New display support. Because you asked for it, we are adding 16X10 over VGA or HDMI, and support for 1440x900 or 1680x1050. This is only the beginning. Their just trying to be PS3 now it seems!
As for installing games, the HDD are too damned small so wont be of any use! Hell, they can make any new functions available that they want, so long as the 360s and XBL are as slow and crap as they are it will make little difference nor any reason for me to use the 360 again. Tried using it on Saturday.....after 10 minutes of trying to connect, load dashboard then load profile and finally a game I gave up...god the hardware sux. |

Sounds good, the 8 player chat is long overdue and I've been hoping that they would create an ability to private chat with more than just 1 person. Do you know if it's just restricted to the Dashboard or will the chat continue in-game? The Avatars seems needless however, whats the point? Just seems like they've taken the Mii's from the Wii and they're annoying as hell. Don't see the point in playing a game through the HDD if you still need the disk in the tray, whats the difference, so it loads faster, meh whatever. I don't really go on Xbox.com much but the fact that you can select what you want to download from the MP from the Web sounds pretty cool. The Primetime thing I will most likely never use but again it's pretty inovative for Casual gamers and is a cool feature. Should be overall a good update. I must be senile as I am having issues figuring what it stole from 360? Blu-Ray - mope Sixaxis - Nope Browser - Nope Charged live - Nope PS3 Home - Nope An actual viable HDD - Nope Open Compatibility for Hardware - nope Repeated Crashing issues - Nope Overused and underpowered network - Nope Stolen from the Wii - Motion control (in part) Erm....nothing else I can think of.Please elaborate mighty console mogul. |

Updates are fine but where was the consultation?
We heard that X people wanted Y so we're implementing A,B and C... , That doesn't work! The Nazi's tried that look where they got. I for one don't like the sound of most of these updates, to me Microsoft updates are notorious hard drive fillers designed to push people into buying more space. (Take it you've all got the 120G HDD now?) 
Speaking of which...I've had to buy a second 360 as my Elite got shafted last week by the RROD and won't be back for 21 days minimum. Lot of people have started doing this for the "definite spare you'll need" theory now. More money than sense I know, but I'm starting to dislike and begrudge Microsoft more and more, despite giving them literally torrents of my cash over the last few years. |

Lol...I can see how all those items 'ripped off from the PC' constitute Sony ripping off 360...lolololol.
As for "Viable HDD = Opinion and nerdy anyway. " Nerdy? So buying a 1500 cc motorcycle and only getting a 1000 cc is nerdy? Or expecting £3000pm wages but getting £2200pm instead? What's nerdy about buying a 20Gb HDD and only having about 12gb left after the OS? Nerdy? Nope Sh*te - Yes. Second life=Playstation home? On a basic level yes but have you actually read up on what it has?! And PS3 Network underpowered? D00d, I can't even connect on 360 without waiting long enough to make a bacon sandwich it's that frikking slow! Ps3 connects in 5 seconds! If it aint the 360's network it is simply another issue with the wonderful 360! Oh and nothing can possibly change the fact that the 360 starting to install games (not that there's room on the HDD of course) is a blatant rip off of the PS3...what with the PS3 being the only console that does it. And in preperation for the inevitable "ooh but PS3 just rips off PCs" ...remember .Console COOOONSOLE....!!! Oh and Neo...bad luck d00d! Sorry to hear about the Elite mate..always knew M$ would fudge them up too 
Hope it doesn't take too long to be repaired and this one lives longer. Thankfully my 360 isn't on long enough any more to go wrong  Takes a load of worry and paranoia off my mind!

If the PSN is so epicly awesomely ball-breakingly orgasm inducing, why do you have to leave a game to read a message? Why are hackers bumming it into bloody anused submission? PS Home It's like a social life..... but......but..... in DAR INTARWEBS! So basically....Second Life. But with less furries. The basic flaw of Home is the basic flaw of any thing that has social interation at it's heart. People. Are. People. Observe. 
And for someone who has expressed his wide array of knowledge on the complex solutions of IT, maybe you could find a way to fix your clearly screwed connection when it comes to connecting with the 360? Or maybe you can just shout at some support staff and guilt-trip them into giving you free stuff like you did last time? I start my 360, the logo comes up, dashboard, bang. Online. I'll time it. 10 seconds. From turned off. Oh no! A 5 second advantage! Call the media! Alert the presses! |

ok guys, think that enough of the banter between Xbox 360 and the PS3, it was just a post to say what was happening, nothing more, nothing less.
Both consols have their up's and downs, yes Xbox Live has been going longer than The Sony Network, but it looks like Sony has sat back, and watched what was happening and improved on it. Yes i am getting a PS3, why? cus it's a cheap alternative to buying a Blu-Ray Player and also i'm getting bored with xbox live and all the Fooking Kids thinking they are the greatest...... So enough slagging off which consols better or i'll come round your house's and "TAN YOUR BEHINDS..........." |
